Supernatural My Favorite Season 1 and 2 Episodes
As we count the last few days before Season Three begins, I thought I’d open up and confess a few of my favorite episodes of Supernatural. You may notice a theme that would indicate why I might be excited that Season Three will be more like Season One.

1.01 Pilot
I really did like the pilot. I thought it was a good story, and actually touching. I was convinced by the brothers display of tension, sprinkled with a distant brotherly love and concern.

1.05 Bloody Mary
This take on the urban legend was interesting. This is one of several from the first season that focused on the Supernatural basis myth that a lot of those creepy stories that you’d dismissed as legend are most often true. One common fundamental to the mythology on these, in Season One, was that someone had been killed in an untoward manner –uh-hmmm, murdered- and is now is attacking people with something related to the murder.
This was a delightfully creepy episode, well directed with just the right dark imagery. The shots of Sam with a baseball bat cocked and ready to smash a mirror as soon as Mary shows up is etched in my psyche.

1.03 Dead in the Water
When Sam and Dean look into a mysterious lake drowning, they discover that many people have drowned. They smell a spirit.
Amy Acker, of Angel fame (Fred), portrays a single mom, widowed as a result of one of the drownings.

1.07 Hook Man
Sam and Dean run across a mystery in Iowa where a girl’s boyfriend was killed in the manner of the famous “Hook Man” urban legend. Like Bloody Mary, the legend is real and they must find the ghost’s bones and destroy them. This time, though, they’re in an unmarked grave. Oops! Not again.
1.12 Faith
After an electrocution damages Dean’s heart, he’s given a month to live. Sam seeks out a faith healer, who may be real. Unfortunately, the faith healer is using the black arts to force a “reaper” to do his will, so each healing has a very high price tag.
2.01 In My Time of Dying
This follows a simple formula, but I like the way they played it out. Dean is in a coma after a demon-possessed trucker runs down the Impala. John Winchester ends up making a deal with the demon, involving the Colt, the last bullet, and John’s own life.
2.05 Simon Said
Sam and Dean find more “children” like Sam, who have special powers. They meet Andy, who can control other people’s actions. This one pointed toward a possible plan that someone has for the children with special abilities, but definitely leaves you curious in the end.
2.06 No Exit
This episode contains black ooze. How could a card-carrying X-Files fan not like that?
Sam, Dean, and Jo look into a murderer focused on blonde women. They discover that an apartment building where women were targeted was built next to the site of an old prison. One of the men executed where the apartment building now stands was the first known serial killer in the U.S., who attacked blondes. Jo, of course, is captured.
Where are those darn bones, again?
So, there are a few of my favorite episodes.
