You may be bummed about the You may be bummed about the writers’ strike and the end of your favorite shows, possibly until October 2008 for many. Well, fill that void of seemingly endless voidiness with some yummy words from a real live writer for one of your favorite shows ever –Supernatural. Sera Gamble’s website features a lot of fun and interesting facts about her, her projects, her past work, as well as a good FAQ for would-be TV writers.

Can you submit your coolest idea ever for Supernatural to her?

No!

From her Script Writing FAQ:

First of all, I am required to immediately hand over anything idea-ish to the Warner Bros legal
department. Second of all, I am not the Jedi you are looking for. That would be the showrunner.

On resources for future script writers:

I learned about screenplay structure by reading Screenplay by Syd Field; that’s kind of the OG of
screenwriting books. I learned about TV script structure by studying actual TV scripts. David Mamet has an
insightful book of essays called Writing In Restaurants (the bit about the “dead kitten speech” is priceless).

I won’t spill the whole deal. She has loads of information, and her website itself is a great resource for aspiring writers, and for fans of her work.

Thanks for posting. You may want to reread it though because your first line is duplicate.

What if there was a new force the Winchester Boys encounter? A force that is not demon but just as powerful and a force that can give them just a glimpse of what they are actually fighting for? What if this force is the one that can help Sam fight and win Dean’s soul back without dying himself? She’s new, she’s powerful and she can show Dean why he is so important in fighting the good fight.
