Comic “Supernatural: Rising Son” to Hit Stands in April
After the phenomenal success of the comic series Supernatural: Origins, fans can now look forward to new series, Supernatural: Rising Son, coming April 23. The new comic tells the story of young Dean Winchester at 11, and brother, Sam Winchester, 7. As fans of the Supernatural TV series know, this puts them in the passenger seats of the ‘67 Impala, riding with dad, John Winchester.
TV Guide reports this from writer Peter Johnson:
“Whereas the first series was more about John and his becoming a hunter, this one’s much more of a dysfunctional-family story,” explains writer Peter Johnson, who’s also a co-executive producer on the TV show. “We’re really going to explore the differences between Sam and Dean in this one. Dean is becoming aware of what his dad’s up to and we’ll see him training and hunting a little bit, while John will start to key in on something different about Sam.”
Johnson also adds that there will be “freakier monsters”, and a villain tie-in to the television series.
The writers’ strike, alas, has also had an impact on the comic. Eric Kripke will not have the direct influence on the 6-issue series, as he had in the Origins books.

I can’t wait to see this series. Origins was a treat.
What do you think? Does this help, since we won’t be seeing new episodes on TV soon?
