Supernatural Hiatus Opens Slot for Reaper on February 28
Supernatural, currently airing Thursdays at 9PM ET, will go on a limited hiatus, beginning February 28. In it’s place, Reaper, another of The CW’s under-appreciated shows, takes over Supernatural’s timeslot, in hopes of generating more interest by following Smallville.
Will this be good for either of these, or both, shows? Time will tell. This three card monte with the schedule is usually bad, but The CW hopes to capitalize –for Reaper’s benefit- on the loss of fresh competition. By then, both Lost and Grey’s Anatomy will be out of fresh scripts. Of course, you could argue, that the weakening of the Thursdays 9PM competition would be a good opportunity to grow Supernatural,
What do you think? Is this a good idea for either show?

I think the CW is missing a great opportunity to grow the fan base of the show. With a lot of shows going into reruns due to the strike viewers of other shows might be looking for something to watch and they could tune in to Supernatural and realize what an amazing show it is.
I personally am glad they said “limited” hiatus. I hope it remains limited. I have been a fan since season one, but I have to say that watching the first 5-6 episodes of Season 3 over and over, is frustrating. I want the story to continue, darn it! lol…do I think they should have removed it entirely, of course no! I just wish that the writers got what they deserve and the strike could be over once and for all.
I agree with Sherry. I’m a big fan of Supernatural and since there hasn’t been any new episodes due to the strike, I’ve been watching either Grey’s Anatomy or CSI so I’m sure there are people out who will turn to a new series as well when episodes run out and I’d love for them to see how awesome Supernatural truly is.

Bad idea. Supernatural already has a committed fan base. By not airing the show at a time like this you’re not only causing fans to lose interest…or just plain forget about the show, you are not allowing those people who have “free time” since they are not longer watching Grey’s Anatomy a chance to gain interest in a show that has been amazing, and yet underpublisized. This could give them a chance to see what all the hoppla is all about. But that’s just my opinion.
WHY DOES SUPERNATURAL HAVE TO GO ON HIATUS????? AND IF THEY DO THEY CAN AT LEAST SHOW THE RERUNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ok i watch reaper every tuesday. its not like we dont know it exists. maybe some people just dont wanna watch it? i dont think changing the day will make a difference. plus people who watch supernatural will stop watching on thursdays. bad.
also i LOVE supernatural it definetly better be back like.. SOON. loveeee it! when will it be back???
My family and I absolutely LOVE Supernatural. Would much rather watch reruns of Supernatural than Reaper any day! When Supernatural is not on, we find other things to do. Definitely will not watch Reaper. So putting it on a hiatus will not help at all.
Your cries have been heard! Thanks for making so much noise. The CW has announced that Supernatural will return to its Thursday spot three weeks earlier, on April 3.
I think making some noise on the blogs and forums helps a lot.
