The B5Media network:

Writers, Studios Overcome Thorny Issues; Tentative Agreement May Come This Week

According to leaks to the Associated Press by two anonymous insiders, the Writers’ Guild of America (WGA) and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, representing the studios, made significant progress, in talks Friday.

Until now, the sticking points included insistence by the studios to limit writers’ residuals for online content to a flat $1,200 fee. The WGA wants a percentage of the distributor’s revenue.

Initial reports of agreements on important issues is certainly good news. I hope that we hear some credible verification from the parties involved, in the next few days.

Have you heard anything about Supernatural post strike? The CW had said that Supernatural was going on hiatus after the new episodes are aired, but what happens after the strike. Will Kripke and company get the green light for more episodes and will we get our Thursday pre strike spot back as reruns will no longer be the issue? I sure would appreciate any inside info you have on this.

    Katie,

According to Eric Kripke, if the strike ends soon, they may get 2-4 more episodes done for the end of the season. He’s not happy about the possibility of ending the season leaving the storyline where it is at the end of the month. If they get a couple more episodes, they’ll try to make a sort of mini-cliff hanger to help segue better into Season Four. Otherwise, it will be a big speedbump. The extra episodes will still be a good sized speedbump, though.

No one has been specific, but my guess would be that they will have two to four reruns to lead into the new episodes. They could, however, also lead straight into new eps without showing the lead-in repeats.

Thanks so much for supporting the show and Supernatural Scoop!
