Dean Cooling His Heels in Hell - Kripke Speaks to TV Guide
According to Matt Mitovich, over at TV Guide, Eric Kripke says Dean will rest in Hell for quite some time. As a result, his bond with Sam will be “massively affected”.
This is a vague enough spoiler to make you Dean lovers sweat along with him. Do the three to four months over the summer count? Do we have to wait for Dean to come back, even after we waited for the first episode of Season 4? Either way, we have to wonder what Dean will be like, when he finally gets back.
What about that Ruby? Sent away to a bad place, eh. That Lilith. Always kidding. Oh, Kripke, what the heck is going to go down for the next two seasons, now that Sam has his tasty, new mojo working for him?
Tell us what you want to know in the comments. Maybe Kripke will call me back soon, and we can get down to the brass tacks.

now I’m really dieing to know what will happen to dean, he shouln’t had gone to hell. and I belive that kripke won’t show us that in the first ep. he probably will tortur us lilte bit longer.

I am for one hope that eric doesnt draw out this thing with Dean! dean is the strongest charcter on Supernatural and I Believe that if the storyline is drugged out to long it will have a negitive effect on the show!

OK, this is how it’s gonna go. You bring Dean back before I jam my foot straight up your ass! It’s stupid how you will kick out the best actor and the strongest chacecter in the show. Please do it or your going to lose a hell of a lot of veiwers. (DON’T SAY I DIDN’T WARN YOU!!!!!!)

I agree that dean is the stongest character (and jensen the best but jared is pritty good to) and i’m sure that kripke is not stupid, so he will bring dean back but i think he may tortur us a lilte longer and make us wait until maybe the secoud ep, after that i agree it would be bad for the show.

Since I’m all speculated out, I’m just going on record saying I love Jensen’s hair in this photo and hope Dean lets his hair get a little longer in S4. *grin* How’s that for shallow?

God I hope that he doesn’t come back crazy/stupid? One of the things I like about Dean Winchester is that he is the strongest of the 2 brothers….because after Mary’s death he had to grow up very fast and protect his baby brother Sam. My guess is that Sam seeing maybe an injured Dean…becomes the person we saw in Mystery Spot…thanks to Ruby….and that maybe seeing what Hell is like…Dean comes back mentally injured? Or he can come back mean and somewhat evil and bitter agaisn’t Sam? Maybe he comes back under Lilith’s control? Or maybe he comes back so mean spirited that not even Sam want’s to hunt with him….so instead Sam goes hunting with Ruby. This will suck big time….if again Kripke puts a wrench into the brother’s love and respect for eachother. I don’t know who is more dangerous in destroying Supernatural? Kripke or the decaying CW?????

Since Supernatural is Kripke’s vision, he can’t really destroy it. It’s his series, his creation, his journey. As fans and viewers, we’re just along for the ride, and he hasn’t disappointed me so far! (Except for maybe Bela. But then, the strike kinda derailed her characterization growth.) If anyone wants vision/creative-control, maybe they should get their own show.
Ozzie - I wouldn’t mind seeing a little role-reversal myself; Sam watching over Dean. Sam never did get to save Dean from going to hell, but maybe he can nurse him back to health after Dean’s hell-break. I guess I’m up for whatever Kripke does! S4 is going to be a wild ride!

A note of hope to all the Deanobites out there….OR…Why Dean isn’t staying in hell or coming back as a demon.
Before you begin to speculate what the heck is going to happen to Dean now that he’s allegedly dead and hanging somewhere between the first and ninth circle of hell, (for my purpose here let’s assume what we saw on the season finale was actually what happened and not a cop out like a dream, vision, fantasy etc.). We need consider what is first and foremost for any episodic: viewership=$$$ and a series bible with myth-arc. Fans have stated on multiple sites that they won’t watch the show if Dean isn’t on it, (can the CW really survive that kind of loss??). So, he absolutely has to come back and he can’t come back as a demon and use Jensen’s body, that would go against the established criteria for demons. So how do all the die hard Deanobites get their fill of Dean next season as he is obviously incapacitated in his present state??? Someone has to go get him, (isn’t it about time someone saved Dean?). The obvious person would of course be Sam but me thinks he’ll be a bit busy with that darn Lilith. Remember, although Lilith is the eater of babies, she also the Grand Dame of all succubi and she really appeared to like access to Ruby’s vacated body. Since she apparently can’t kill Sam, it’d be logical for her to attempt to control him with her womanly wiles in the guise of some sympathetic, sexy “meat sack”. A fairly easy task considering the emotional state Sam will be in, (Sammy wear your crucifix and keep your henbane close). Especially if she beguiles him into thinking she’s some type of ancient Mage that has the ability to teach him how to get in and out of hell with Dean intact. Which brings us full circle. I’d actually like to see Bobby be the catalyst to finding the “one” that can pull Dean out of hell (the amulet could serve as a “location beacon“). It’d give us the chance to see more of his character and be a possible lead in to more info on the Winchester family tree. It’s logical that a highly skilled Mage or Shaman would be able to pull Dean out, we know demons can come and go through portals so why couldn’t a highly trained occultist? Kripke has occasionally introduced characters with occult abilities so why not a new character, someone who knows the history of the boys and has the key to why the boys were led down this specific life path. With only one season after season 4, he needs to start revealing some of those tricks up his sleeve. Who and what gender this character could be is very fluid although I’d like to actually see them get the “female support character” right, perhaps the 3rd time would be the charm. If they were to consider the above path, there’d be lots of options for both the myth-arc; as Dean would be with Bobby and the Shaman, and Sam with Lilith and eventually they would need to be reunited (both greatly changed for the experience) as well as the all important stand alone episodes without which (among other things) has killed many a great show in the past.
Just a thought…or 2. Sorry for the length but I had to give something to keep the Deanobites sane through the summer…J

My only speculation? That S4 will take place several months after No Rest for the Wicked. That way Dean can be in hell long enough to do whatever Kripke wants to do to him, but yet he will still be back at the beginning of the season. And I’m with you KayDee… Love the hair, oh those green eyes….

I think that because Dean has always been tough that he will come back injured mentally and physically weak. Since Ruby said that Sam has powers besides the psychic stuff that Sam will be able to heal Dean…because that will be one of his gifts. I wonder if Kripke has Dean locked up in a mental hospital ….where Bobby and Sam can come visit from time to time.

I think Sammy will bring Dean back with Ruby’s help….then with Dean kinda crazy….that maybe Dean will be locked up in a mental hospital going through his own personal hell and nightmares. While this happens to Dean…then Sam will be off hunting with Ruby going after Lilith and her demon followers. Fans will be pissed at Kripke if he goes out and again seperates or hurts the heart of Supernatural….the chemistry between Sam and Dean as a team to be reckon with. Kripke compares his series to STAR WARS, well the best scenes were when Han Solo and Luke Skywalker battle together or helped eachother to fight evil.

I was rewatching the witch episode, and in that one Ruby tells Dean that hell is torment and agony beyond measure. But most of all, its forgetting; forgetting who you were, forgetting you were human. Maybe Dean will come back and temporarily forget who Sam and Bobby are.

New TV Guide spoiler takes off from this one indicating not only a long time but a changed landscape. I’m predicting several years have passed but it will need to be in keeping with Sam’s age and Bobby’s (Since it indicates Dean needs to readjust to his loved ones and those two are his constants) I’m fine with this as I trust EK and Co. to deliver the emotions as well as the hows and whys.
My question is: Does Dean return in the opener of S4 or do we live w/o Dean for a few episodes (NOOOOOO!!! EK, I trust you, man, I do, but that won’t work — Okay, I trust you with a caveat. Dean must come back in the first episode.)
Please unfold the mystery of Dean’s time in hell, how he got out and what Sam et al went through for all of us, through Dean’s eyes and Sam’s as they readjust to being brothers and family and each discover what the other went through, that to me will be awesome (torture, true, but awesom) Just don’t give us any eps, without the two brothers and the Impala, and keep some music, some fun, you can let Sam be the one that eats like crazy..that’s fine…hmm what else….oh, yeah: How many weeks until S4 starts?????

Kripke is crazy and is going to kill this series. Why would I WANT TO SEE an older Sam . The guy is sexy at 24? Why would I WANT TO SEE like a 28 Sam or a 32 Dean this sucks big time? He is going to ruin what he has created. If this is true then please end the series at season 4. Please…Thank you.

OMG wats with all this “Jensen Is the Best Actor” business?? Wat the hell is wrong with you if you really loved supernatural you would love the two HOTTIES the same. I myself think Sam does look better with his hair on his face instead of parted maybe in Season4 he will change his style back to how it was in S1&2. Well to the subject of how Dean will be in S4, well honestly its anyones guess but I think Dean will definatly change in some way or another. I think he will be a lot more careful about the capturing of demons and HEY! you never know he might even make some new friends down in hell !!
I guess we will all know what happens in good time.;
