Kripke: Weak Dollar Seals Ruby in Depths of Hell

Supernatural creator Eric Kripke delivered some bad news in an interview with TV Guide. Despite great admiration for Katie Cassidy, and a desire to bring her back in Season 4, the slumping value of the U.S. dollar has made it impossible to bring Ruby back from Hell.
Kripke said that Katie was great for the show. Despite this, and despite having the same budget as last year, producing the show in Canada where the U.S. Dollar is weak means making some hard decisions.
In order to balance the testosterone levels of the otherwise boy-heavy cast, Kripke plans to return to more transient female characters, that will come and go. The beginning of Season 4 will mean a change in the direction of the show, with Sam alone, and new hurdles, worldly and personal, to overcome. Kripke says they have also come up with innovative and “unexpected” ways to bring in, and dispose of, new characters.
So, we await a new season, with new surprises. It still sounds scary, though, doesn’t it?

Kripke should never had referred to Katie Cassidy and Lauren Cohan as regulars on the series. I think that for now only Jim Beaver who plays Bobby is entitled to being called a regular. I ‘am glad that ”Rubella”, IS DEAD. I know that the USA dollar isn’t what it use to be….but if he really wanted he could have kept Miss Cassidy and just cut her episode appearances to 4 eppies not 12? Kripke stated that Bela didn’t work out and made Sam and Dean look like Silly and Dummy. He killed off the psychic kids when he got tired of them. I think he himself doesn’t know the direction Sam and Dean are headed to. He is playing it one episode at a time. The CW Network doesn’t help either…they are too busy kissing the asses of their Gossip boys and girls. OMFG! The CW Network thinks GG is a hit? Reality pulse check…the series is a flop.

Supernatural is the only I see at the CW Network. So I will be happy when kRIPKE ends the series at season 5….because I won’t have to sacrifice myself to being glued to the CW on thursday nights at 9pm.

Ozzie I can only agree with you on the comment about them never should have been regulars. However if Kripke REALLY wanted to bring Ruby back, (the character, NOT the actress) he could easily do so for an episode or two, and put her in a different body. Considering she’s a demon, it wouldn’t be hard to convince the fans. I do like the character concept and would like to see her resolve at least SOMETHING, maybe the task she had set Sam on at the beginning of S3, of finding out why their mom’s friends were systematically killed off.

I think Ruby is coming back, but in another meat suit and so she will be using another name too. I guess another actress playing in less episodes guiding Sammy towards the darkside. A female demon ”YODA”, trying to control Sam.?
