I agree, FeFe. There seems to be this general misconception around in TV, particularly in Supernatural, that throwing around misogynist expletives makes the writing gritty and real, and conclusively, good.

I agree, Casey was a wonderful strong female character too and the woman could actually act! I would love to see Genevieve Cortese weave in and out of the boys lives, not in every episode of course, but here and there. As for this Kristy, lets hope that this girl can act and has more chemistry with the brothers. And good call on the Ruby’s new meat suit. Wouldn’t surprise me.

She is very pretty…will have to check her bio. She looks spanish or Italian.? I like her long black hair….she is playing a waitress…but Kripke should make her a waitress whose family has gypsy blood in them. ??? I also agree that the male writers made the terrible mistake of hiring 20 year old babes who are beautiful but not all could act. KC…couldn’t…as Ruby…but some young fangirls so her save Dean’s as and then kick his ass…and then play a Barbie doll possessed by demon Lilith in the final…and they were sooooooooo devoted to her . Talk about blind faith and loving a character. Sarah in ”Provedance” and Casey in ”Sin City” were the perfect girls…but Kripke waves his hands and makes the real good actresses go away. I think that the new girl Kristy though will be Ruby’s new meat suit.

I feel that the women of SN are written poorly. It is as if there is no female representation in the writers room. The ladies seem one dimentional and only there for the eye candy. If I hear Dean call another woman a “BITCH” again I am going to hop a plane to Vancover and show the writers a true bitch. It is rediculous how females are portrayed on that show.

It is difficult for me because I love the mythology of the show as well as the talent of Jensen and Jared but I think as a whole the writing is weak and the characterization is poor.
Here’s hoping season 4 will be better!!!

Now I agree totally that any recurring female character so far has been very badly written and/or acted. We look no farther than the past season to find that.

While I don’t necessarily agree with you on how Dean’s exes were acted, they weren’t horribly written, and I truly had hoped that Sam and Sarah would have a chance, so yeah they got her right anyway!

I personally love Genevieve Cortese, being a fan of Wildfire myself, so I was happy to hear she was going to be in at least one episode of S4. Here’s hoping they don’t screw her up as bad as they had before!

P.S. I hope this all makes sense, cause I’m still pretty tired this morning!

I’m sure if (male) TV writers actually knew how to write three dimensional female characters, the female audience wouldn’t mind so much.

On SPN, the Chicks of the Week are usually nicely written. They seem real. Sam’s art dealer and Dean’s two ex-girlfriends, too.

But give the (mostly male) writers (who, really, are nerds and geeks like the rest of us) the possibility to create a recurring lady, and they seem to go, “OMG! So of course she’s like totally hot! And under 25! And she can shoot and kick ass! And she has this really tragic past! And she’ll be played by this girl who’s nice on the eyes but can’t actually act!” And bam, we’re forced to watch the comic book uber-heeroine that some years back as a teenager, said writer used to imagine when he masturbated. Urgh.

This BTW happens on tons of shows. Like on “House MD”, where we’re supposed to believe that EVERY chick my age (mid-twenties) wants to get it on with mid-forties Gregory House. Who really is the Alter Ego of executive producer David Shore.

So… you know, even if the majority of the (female) SPN fans are completely deluded, meaning Sam and Dean or Jensen and Jared wouldn’t nail them even in their dreams– these ladies don’t all write Mary Sue fanfiction. But TV writers do. When what you wank off to should be kept to oneself.
