Supernatural up for Sourcies 2008: Favorite Return Appearance

Supernatural has had numerous return appearances in it’s past three seasons. Most of them have been incredibly satisfying, bringing back favorites, like John Winchester and Mary Winchester, as well as fellow hunters. Then, there is the return of the misguided “ghose hunters”, Harry Spangler and Ed Zeddmore, when they take their antics up a notch with a team, in their new show pilot Ghostfacers. Of course, there have been some returning demons, and, naturally, some not-so-welcome federal agents and hunter returns, like Agent Henriksen and the obsessive Gordon.

Vote for Jensen, Jared Coolest TV Stars

Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki are up for Coolest TV Star, in a poll up at TVGuide.com. Interestingly, Jensen, Jared, and Smallville’s Tom Welling are the only boys in the poll. The other big stars in the running include the likes of Miley Cyrus, so watch out!

Supernatural Wins 2007 Constellation Award

Supernatural has won Best Overall 2007 Science Fiction Film or Television Script in the Canadian Constellation Awards. The Constellations, Canada’s Fan Awards for Excellence in Science Fiction Television and Film, had also nominated Supernatural in the categories:

Best Male Performance in a 2007 Science Fiction Television Episode – Jared Padalecki.
Best Male Performance in a 2007 Science Fiction Television Episode – Jensen Ackles.
Best Science Fiction Television Series of 2007.
Outstanding Canadian Contribution to Science Fiction Film or Television in 2007.

Who could argue that Supernatural, Jensen Ackles, and Jared Padalecki aren’t all those things, as well?

Supernatural Nominated for Saturn Award

The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films has announced the nominations for the 34th Annual Saturn Awards.Supernatural has, again, been nominated for Best Network Television Series. Once again, the series is up against Lost, who won in 2006.

Win or lose, though, being nominated is the sort of news that would make the network look foolish to put it on the chopping block.

U.S. Special Forces Give Veterans Day Honor to Supernatural Actors

Last weekend, Special Forces soldier Master Sergeant Kevin Wise attended Creation Entertainment’s “Salute to Supernatural, Smallville and Buffy/Angel” in Chicago. On Sunday, Veterans’ Day, he joined Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles on stage to present them each with a thank you letter from General David H. Petraeus, Commander of the Multi-National Force in Iraq, as well as an honorary Special Forces coin from his unit. Wise also announced that Supernatural Season One and Season Two are the most requested DVDs among our armed forces personnel in Iraq and Afghanistan.

According to Wise, each of the five active Special Forces Groups has its own coin. Wise is a part of the 12-member Special Forces Unit ODA 045 or “Team Texas.” These coins are given to soldiers who become Green Berets. Civilians are rarely given a coin.

Ackles and Padalecki were very touched by the gesture, and presented Wise with a shooting script, signed by the Supernatural cast and crew.

According to Wise, Warner Brothers Entertainment, Inc. and Kripke Entertainment, Inc. are going to send 3,000 copies of the DVDs to soldiers stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

One letter from a soldier said that the brothers’ demon-hunting on Supernatural helps relieve the stress of the war and reminds them of home.

Given the keen interaction of two brothers who have such great sibling chemistry, and who drive around in a classic ‘67 Impala, it’s easy to see how this would remind our soldiers of home.

Keep up the good work, demon-fighting soldiers of Supernatural and peace-keeping soldiers of the U.S. Armed Forces. All our best to all of you.
