Help Make “All Hell Breaks Loose: Supernatural Australian Convention” Happen

Many of our Australian friends love the show Supernatural, and are working hard to lure a Supernatural Convention down-under. Australians, New Zealanders, Tasmanians, and any other South Pacific island fans deserve the opportunity to see the wonderful actors, writers and creator of the show in the flesh. If you’d like to see a convention in Australia, please help make it happen by signing the petition to help make a Supernatural convention a possibility. For you Amero-, Euro-, Afro-, Asiatic, diehard fans, who manage to make it to most if not all the conventions, wouldn’t an Australian convention be an awesome adventure?

CW Network on Life Support?

This season, we’ve heard growing concerns over The CW’s viability. This week, after the networks official presentation on its third season offerings, The Wall Street Journal published a story about the network’s ability to stay afloat.

Ratings have been in the tank for the network, and they are scrambling, not only to fix it, but to highlight what is working on the fledgling network. The almost two-year-old network has made the 18-to-34 year old its bread and butter. This is its strength and its weakness. While women in this age group are believed to respond to advertisements, their male counterparts don’t make buying decisions in the same way. In fact, The CW, after having dumped wrestling programs with their lower ad rate male audience, this week announced that 18-to-34 year old women is now its target demographic.

One issue raised by network executives, and acknowledged by The Nielsen Corporation, is the number of viewers who rely upon the internet for entertainment, especially among young viewers. The networks target audience is very tech savvy, and spend increasing amounts of time at the computer, and on wireless phones for music and video. The CW angered this audience, this year, when they pulled the streaming episodes of Gossip Girl. They had hoped to force people to watch the show on TV, where Nielsen boxes would produce the numbers that help pay the bills. Another problem with this audience for advertiser-funded media is the popularity of DVRs, which make it possible to miss the commercials entirely. The network has experimented heavily with new types of advertisements, including very short spots and serialized spots.

In its third season, The CW plans to experiment with new adverisement formats. They will also continue working closely with The Nielsen Corporation on new ways to measure who is watching shows. They also plan on creating new relationships between online content and on-air offerings, likely working on new ways to sell the strength of the internet offerings to advertisers.

Fans of shows such as Supernatural, Reaper, and even Gossip Girl will have to hope that the network will improve its numbers before either, or both, of its parent companies decides to pull the plug. In the end, we, as fans will really decide, through our actions, how well the network performs.

Supernatural First Look: 3.16 – No Rest For The Wicked – Season Finale!

I can’t wait for the season finale of Supernatural, No Rest for the Wicked. This promises to be so packed with action and emotional energy, a few diehard fans might explode on the couch. So, I’m picking up some plastic sheeting; a good supply of soda, Funyuns, and pizza rolls; and setting up a few simultaneous digital and VHS recordings, before the action begins Thursday at 9PM ET/PT, 8PM CT/MT.

Here are a couple of clips, a little later than we usually see them, but we have them now. Eat them up, digest, leave some comments expressing your thoughts, your worries, and your hopes.

In No Rest for the Wicked Clip 1, Sam (Jared Padalecki) is assuring Dean that he’s not going to go to Hell. When Dean looks at Sam, he gets a spooky glimpse of Sam’s face distorting into some demonic form. So, let the creep fest begin…

In No Rest for the Wicked Clip 2, Dean tells off Ruby, and tells Sam that she’s trying to trick him. Ruby is adamant that she can help Sam use his psychic, demon powers to destroy Lilith, and save Dean. Dean punches her, and the real action begins!

So, grab your lucky charms and rub, “Please, don’t be a cliffhanger. Please, don’t be a cliffhanger…”

CW Synopsis: 3.13 Ghostfacers

Last week, The CW posted the official synopsis for the next new Supernatural episode, Ghostfacers.

Sam and Dean take a break from their usual gig to star in a gritty reality show called “Ghostfacers” which chronicles the pursuit of the paranormal. Ed Zeddmore (guest star A. J. Buckley) and Harry Spengler (guest star Travis Wester) have created a radically different and sometimes violent show full of profanity that takes them to the Morton Mansion, an abandoned estate which becomes one of the most haunted places in America one night each year. However, as their team begins to get picked off in grisly manners not fit for television, they realize they are in over their heads. Source: The CW

Ellen Harvelle Not Likely Back on Supernatural This Season

Despite spoilers to the contrary (see Sera Gamble interview), Samantha Ferris’ blog reports that Ellen Harvelle will not likely return, this season. Apparently, the offer that the producers gave her could “cost her money and work”. I can only speculate that she means that the time that they would need her, for just a few minutes, in one episode would have paid her considerably less than the work she could do in the time that the shooting would keep her away from other work. I imagine having to travel to Vancouver to shoot a few minutes of footage would be hard for most people. She must have other things going on.

She speculates that the word will be out, tomorrow (Friday, 7 March), so it’s not a done “no-deal”, yet. But it doesn’t look good.

I’m disappointed. She’s a strong character that fits well in the Supernatural universe. It’s too bad they couldn’t have used her more, this season.

Supernatural Returns to Thursday Night April 3

CW Picks Up Supernatural for Season Four

The CW has announced its early pickups, and Supernatural is on the list of shows for Autumn 2008!

This is excellent news, more or less expected, but not guaranteed.

“Gossip Girl,” “One Tree Hill,” “Smallville,” “Supernatural,” “Everybody Hates Chris” And “America’s Next Top Model” To Return Next Season

March 03, 2008 (Burbank, California) – The CW announced early pickups of six series today, including the network’s signature reality hit, AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL, four dramas and one comedy. All six series will return for the fall season.

The network’s most popular series, AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL will return with mega-star Tyra Banks for cycles 11 and 12. Returning dramas include the buzz-worthy freshman hit GOSSIP GIRL and ONE TREE HILL, returning for a sixth season. These three series are the top-ranked shows on television with a concentration of women 18-34 viewers.

Also renewed were the long-running Thursday night team of SMALLVILLE, which will begin its eighth season, and SUPERNATURAL, which will begin its fourth season. In addition, the critically acclaimed comedy EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS will return for season four.
