Supernatural Scoop

This week, The CW started a new promo “The Girls of Thursday Night”. Supernatural’s Bela (Lauren Cohan) and Ruby (Katie Cassidy) get plenty of coverage, as well as Smallville’s Kara (Laura Vandervoort). Smallville’s already existing cast members get quick flashes, so, obviously, they’re promoting the new blood on these shows. Are they, however, doing it in a way that best represents either show, particularly Supernatural.

Is this the exploitation that Supernatural fans feared back in July? Is this the Bela- and Ruby- mania that we loathe to see happen to the show?

Sam and Dean pose as insurance investigators and question the pastor when a man commits suicide in a church. Gun totin’ Dean may favor a divergent political party. It’s Sam’s turn to look for Dean when he disappears with Casey, an attractive demon who expresses admiration for the deal he made to bring Sam back. Though initially thrown by the source of the compliments, Dean tells her that it’s liberating to live life with no worries about the future, since he doesn’t have one. Sam and Dean investigate a rash of violent deaths in Elizabethville, Ohio, a once-sleepy town that has been turned into a haven for gamblers and drinkers. Dean discovers demons have infiltrated Elizabethville and are using their powers of persuasion to make the townspeople succumb to their basic instincts. Meanwhile, Ruby helps Bobby rebuild the Colt from scratch and stuns him with some news.

Cicero, Indiana:
A woman walks outside her house, arms folded. An SUV drives up, and her ex drops off their daughter. Apparently, Katie, the daughter, threw a fit and he brought her back. As the dad drives off, the little girl says her dad is mean, there are monsters at her dad’s house, and she never wants to go back.

Here’s a little tidbit that might excite Jared Padalecki fans. Of course, it may also disappoint some die hard fans who are
sworn to love and squee!
This involes Jared Padalecki, his girlfriend, Sandra McCoy, and the date November 1.

TV Guide has published a Q&A with Erik Kripke. He answers the burning questions that Supernatural fans had submitted to TV Guide.

Kripke talks about Mary Winchester’s background, not going where the Wendigo went, the YED (Yellow Eyed Demon), and the world of demon hunters that the boys meet. My favorite piece is on Bobby, a character that I’m glad they’re developing this season:

I’m so inspired! To edit video like that, though, I might have to upgrade from my Pentium II 266, first.

AC/DC’s “Hell’s Bells” starts. The opening is the usual CW/WB/UPN “previously on…” that we’ve known and loved since Buffy. Shows loads of previous seasons’ scenes. It was weighted heavily toward the scenes from the end of Season Two, ending with the Devil’s Gate opening up, and Bobby’s proclamation that the war is coming.
