Jared Padalecki

Jared Padalecki Bio

Jared Padalecki: Supernatural's Sam WinchesterJared Tristan Padalecki was born in San Antonio, Texas, July 19, 1982 to Sharon L. Padalecki (née Kammer), a high school English teacher at East Central High School, and Gerald R. Padalecki, an accountant. He has one older brother, Jeff, and one younger sister, Megan.

Padalecki began acting lessons at age 12, and, while attending James Madison High School in San Antonio, he and Chris Cardenas won the National Forensic League national championship in Duo Interpretation. He also won the 2000 Presidential Scholar Award from the National Foundation for Advancement of the Arts in the theater competition.

The summer before his high school senior year, 1999, Padalecki won the first Fox TV Claim to Fame Contest, for which he was cast as an award presenter at the very first Teen Choice Awards. At Teen Choice 1999, a talent manager approached Padalecki and signed him as a client. That year, he was cast in the Hallie Kate Eisenberg film A Little Inside. Despite plans to attend the University of Texas, Padalecki moved to Los Angeles, California, at the end of his senior year, in 2000. That summer, he landed the role of Dean Forester on Gilmore Girls. During this time, Padalecki appeared in several television movies, including Silent Witness (2000), Close to Home (2001), A Ring of Endless Light (2002) and Young MacGyver (2003).

In 2003, Padalecki appeared in the Steve Martin comedy Cheaper by the Dozen, playing a bully. In 2004, he played Trey Lipton in the Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen movie New York Minute, as well as the thriller Flight of the Phoenix. In 2005, Padalecki starred in the remake of the Vincent Price horror House of Wax, with Chad Michael Murray, Elisha Cuthbert, and Paris Hilton. That same year, he met his girlfriend Sandra McCoy, while filming another horror, Cry Wolf.

In 2005, of course, Jared Padalecki was cast as Sam Winchester in the WB (now CW) show, Supernatural.

In 2007, Padalecki portrayed Thomas Kinkade in the TV movie Thomas Kinkade’s Home for Christmas. He also began hosting the Punk’d-like Ashton Kutcher reality show Room 401, named after the room that Harry Houdini died in. The show airs on MTV, and plays tricks on unsuspecting “guests”, using horror/thriller themes.
