Asylum 2008 Adds Supernatural’s Sterling K. Brown

Sterling K. Brown, Supernatural’s own, over the top crazy to the point of evil, Gordon Walker, has signed on to appear at this year’s Asylum in Birmingham. That makes for a very good showing of Supernatural actors at the upcoming event.
Asylum takes place in just over one week, 9-11 May 2008, so pack your passport, and your tiny bottles of shampoo. This is going to be a great show. The current list of Supernatural stars and musicians slated to appear includes

“Taken” with Katie Cassidy, Liam Neeson to Release in U.S. September 2008

“Taken” with Katie Cassidy, Liam Neeson to Release in U.S. September 2008

I’ve seen a bit of gnashing of teeth about the French film Taken on the internet. It looks like a good film, very dark, and a great thriller. Liam Neeson is a former spy, Bryan, whose daughter (played by Maggie Grace) is abducted in Paris. Bryan goes on a manhunt to find her. With this great cast, and the info from the synopses and trailers, I can see why people are champing at the bit to see it, here in the States.
According to IMDB, though, it looks like the film is to hit screens in the States 19 September 2008. …read more

Katie Cassidy to Play Lucy Ewing in “Dallas” Movie –or Will She?

Katie Cassidy to Play Lucy Ewing in “Dallas” Movie –or Will She?

Supernatural’s new demon in residence, Katie Cassidy (Ruby) has been cast as Lucy Ewing in the upcoming Dallas movie.
One of the newest in a decade and a half long string of classic tv goes big screen, teams Katie Cassidy up with Julie Benz, of Angel and Buffy the Vampire Slayer fame, as Sue Ellen.
Apparently, as reported in The NY Post, last month, the film’s development has hit severe growing pains. It began, according to The Post, when focus groups held by 20th Century Fox, last year, caused the studio to veer into parody territory, and away from strictly dramatic homage …read more

Katie Cassidy Cited for Underage Drinking

Katie Cassidy Cited for Underage Drinking

Ok. Ok. Please sit on your hands –or whatever- if you’re still loathe to consider Bela and Ruby’s roles in this year’s Supernatural arc. This tale is not pretty. In many ways, though, this is not an unfamiliar story. As someone who performs in pubs, I’ve watched countless underage patrons escorted in shame from their tables right in front of the stage. Their woeful cries for understanding are desperate, and rely on the belief that, somehow, there must be a way for it to be morally right for them to be there –drinking. The lies about their ages, and …read more

Supernatural and Smallville: The CW’s Girls of Thursday Night Promo

Supernatural and Smallville: The CW’s Girls of Thursday Night Promo

This week, The CW started a new promo “The Girls of Thursday Night”. Supernatural’s Bela (Lauren Cohan) and Ruby (Katie Cassidy) get plenty of coverage, as well as Smallville’s Kara (Laura Vandervoort). Smallville’s already existing cast members get quick flashes, so, obviously, they’re promoting the new blood on these shows. Are they, however, doing it in a way that best represents either show, particularly Supernatural.

Is this the exploitation that Supernatural fans feared back in July? Is this the Bela- and Ruby- mania that we loathe to see happen to the show?

Erik Kripke Spills About “Supernatural”

Erik Kripke Spills About “Supernatural”

TV Guide has published a Q&A with Erik Kripke. He answers the burning questions that Supernatural fans had submitted to TV Guide.

Kripke talks about Mary Winchester’s background, not going where the Wendigo went, the YED (Yellow Eyed Demon), and the world of demon hunters that the boys meet. My favorite piece is on Bobby, a character that I’m glad they’re developing this season:
In Episode 10 of this season, Bobby will fall into a mysterious and seemingly incurable coma, and Sam and Dean will investigate in order to save their good friend… only to realize that a killer is attacking his …read more

Supernatural Effects: Ivan Hayden Explains Ruby’s Magic Knife

Check out this video from Supernatural Source. Ivan Hayden explains to Jason C. how they created the effects in the scene where Ruby (Katie Cassidy) helps Dean by killing a trio of demons…

I’m so inspired! To edit video like that, though, I might have to upgrade from my Pentium II 266, first.
What do you think about Supernatural’s special effects?
