Supernatural has won Best Overall 2007 Science Fiction Film or Television Script in the Canadian Constellation Awards. The Constellations, Canada’s Fan Awards for Excellence in Science Fiction Television and Film, had also nominated Supernatural in the categories:

Best Male Performance in a 2007 Science Fiction Television Episode – Jared Padalecki.
Best Male Performance in a 2007 Science Fiction Television Episode – Jensen Ackles.
Best Science Fiction Television Series of 2007.
Outstanding Canadian Contribution to Science Fiction Film or Television in 2007.

Recently, we’ve discovered that Amy Acker, friend to evil-fighting vampires and erstwhile guest star on Supernatural (episode 1.03 Dead in the Water), is going to take part in Joss Whedon’s new show Dollhouse. Joss Whedon confirmed that Ms. Acker will portray Dr. Claire Saunders. Amy Acker was brilliant in her seventy episodes on Angel. I am very excited to see her as a regular on the small screen again, especially working with Joss Whedon. They are both amazing. I’m a huge fan on both counts.

Last week, The CW posted the official synopsis for the next new Supernatural episode, Ghostfacers.

Sam and Dean take a break from their usual gig to star in a gritty reality show called “Ghostfacers” which chronicles the pursuit of the paranormal. Ed Zeddmore (guest star A. J. This year, we’ve seen some good, and some great new shows. The writers’ strike may have helped some of them, in a way, by giving the networks too little time to axe them, and percolate any new ideas for next season. As things go, though, some may rise, some may fall, and some may stay around plenty long to jump the shark in a season or two. And we’ve already seen a couple of shows dropped already.

Former Disney exec, Michael Eisner revealed in a CNBC interview, the other day. that the major studio execs and the WGA shook hands, last Friday, on a deal to end the strike. Saturday, 9 February, The contract will go before the WGA general assembly for final acceptance. When asked about the possibility that the assembly won’t accept the deal Eisner stated that acceptance was “inevitable.”
This, of course, is bittersweet news for fans of scripted television. Many shows will likely not have any more episodes written and produced, until Autumn 2008.

The CW has posted these two delicious preview clips for the episode that marks the return to new episodes: Malleus Maleficarum.
Check these out. They total 4:37 in length. That’s 10% of the entire episode. Not too shabby.

Just 27 seconds ago –more or less- the Directors Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers tentatively agreed to a three year contract. The agreement, covering the same sorts of issues that have caused the Writers Guild of America strike, including royalties for internet revenues, is groundbreaking. Also, as contracts go in Hollywood, this should herald a similar agreement between the AMPTP and the WGA.

Tomorrow night, The CW an “encore presentation” of Episode Red Sky at Morning.
Next week, on Thursday January 31, Supernatural airs its first new episode of the year, 3.09, alternatively titled Witch Hunt on several sites and Malleus Maleficarum in a couple places on The CW website.
