Once post-strike production settled down, Supernatural writers Ben Edlund and Cathryn Humphris took some time to talk to the folks over at Morgan’s Maniacs.
The two talk about their experiences writing, working with Eric Kripke. Ben Edlund’s description of his painful sounding process of writing may seem strikingly bizarre, just as much as it may sound familiar to anyone else who has written for a living, for fun, or school. The final phases of his process sound so poetic, they’re descriptions are the essence of writing themselves.

Writers’ Strike is Over

Former Disney exec, Michael Eisner revealed in a CNBC interview, the other day. that the major studio execs and the WGA shook hands, last Friday, on a deal to end the strike. Saturday, 9 February, The contract will go before the WGA general assembly for final acceptance. When asked about the possibility that the assembly won’t accept the deal Eisner stated that acceptance was “inevitable.”
This, of course, is bittersweet news for fans of scripted television. Many shows will likely not have any more episodes written and produced, until Autumn 2008.

Hope At Last? Writers Strike Ending at Smaller Production Companies

Hooray for David Letterman! Though many scripted TV dramas and sitcoms may end the season in chaos, perpetual reruns, or replacement by reality tv, the deal struck between David Letterman’s Worldwide Pants and the WGA is a ray of hope in this strike-sick season. The agreement will hopefully lead to more smaller production companies making their own independent agreements with their writers.
